About This Project

As a direct descendant of Jean Klein and Anne-Marie Dannenhoffer, I started the Klein DNA Project in 2018 in an effort to bring relatives together and learn more about our roots.

There are two main goals:
  1. Identify as many descendants of Jean Klein and Anne-Marie Dannenhoffer as possible - DNA is confirming branches of their descendants and identifying new branches that may have been lost on the paper trail for various reasons.
  2. Reconstruct Jean Klein and Anne-Marie Dannenhoffer's DNA through living descendants - Anytime a segment of DNA is identified as Klein/Dannenhoffer DNA in living descendants, it's from either Jean or Anne-Marie, not both.  Over time, we should be able to sort out Jean DNA from Anne-Marie DNA.
Through my research, I've learned that 5% of my DNA is from Jean Klein and Anne-Marie Dannenhoffer.   My sister only got 3.5% of her DNA from Jean and Anne-Marie.  It goes to show we all inherit DNA differently.  Every new Klein descendant who tests and is willing to be part of this project adds another piece to the puzzle.

For those interested, if you are part of this project, I can tell you how much Klein/Dannenhoffer DNA you inherited.  And there's longevity in the Klein genetics - Jean Klein himself lived to 88 years old despite living most of his life in the 1800s; and Jean Klein and Anne-Marie Dannenhoffer's son George lived to be 103 years old.
